To the Editor:
As a lifelong Republican activist, I am proud to say that I wholeheartedly endorse Janie Strauss for Fairfax County School Board. I have been involved in Republican campaigns for over 30 years and am horrified by the tactics employed by Louise Epstein’s campaign. In a recent Washington Post article, Epstein’s campaign manager, Catherine Lorenze, attacked Janie Strauss because she is a grandmother and should retire from the Board and do her duties as a grandmother.I’m also a grandmother and am deeply offended by the notion that a grandmother should not be serving on the School Board! I’m proud of my grandchildren but I am also proud of my job and my contributions to the community. Our School Board Member should bring our community together, not divide us. I hope that voters will consider the welfare of their children and grandchildren when voting on Nov. 8. I have always considered the candidate’s credentials in the past no matter what party they are representing.

Janie Strauss is a dedicated and effective School Board Member. She has brought high achievement to Fairfax County Public Schools. I believe that Janie Strauss’ experience is critical to continuity and future success with FCPS. I’m proud to say that I am a Republican and my vote this year will be for Janie Strauss. I hope that my Republican friends and fellow grandparents will also consider supporting Janie Strauss.
